e-marking is regulated by the expanded Motor Vehicle Directive 72/245/EC, changed through 95/54/EC, and applies to equipment intended for use when the vehicle is in operation. Products to which verification is applicable include vehicle accessories such as battery chargers for automotive use, refrigerators and heaters. e-marking guarantees freedom from electromagnetic interference that could affect other electronic equipment in the vehicle.

ETL SEMKO has carried out tests for a number of Swedish manufacturers, including Dometic (formerly Electrolux Leisure Appliances) in Sweden and Hungary. This company manufactures refrigerators for caravans.
– We have a well-established relationship with ETL SEMKO that tests our regular refrigerators. When we began looking for a testing partner for the refrigerators designed for installation in vehicles, the choice was simple. Using the same lab has several advantages. We already have good relations, and they know our refrigerators. We don’t want to deal with several institutions and we had no reason to go elsewhere, says Andras Vida, Quality Director and Senior Approval Engineer at Dometic in Hungary.
– Moreover, we are assured of good acceptance by customers when they see that our tests were conducted by ETL SEMKO. Using a known brand creates added value for the product.
