CB-FCS makes global trade easier for you. By using your CB-FCS certification you can easily obtain national certifications. The CB-FCS was created to come to terms with gaps in the CB Scheme that are creating barriers and delays in placing products onto the world market. The CB-FCS does not only complement the existing CB Scheme, it also focuses on certain areas not addressed by the CB Scheme of today.
CB-FCS's major differences from the current CB scheme are:
- Introducing initial factory inspections; The CB-FCS’s goal is to make one sole initial factory inspection sufficient. Also, over time, the aim is to increase co-operation between certification bodies regarding annual factory inspections in order to reduce the number of inspections conducted.
- The CB-FCS goes far beyond type testing. CB-FCS members assess the acceptability of manufacturers’ quality systems, including the surveillance methods used at the factories producing the certified products. Additionally, the CB-FCS member issuing the Conformity Assessment Certificate will establish a follow-up assessment programme, which will ensure consistency of design and construction.
- Not requiring test samples to secondary bodies for national certifications.
The CB-FCS scheme operates within the scope of the IEC standards for electrical equipment accepted for use in the CB scheme. Read more about the scope of CB-FCS!
New scheme – old security
The new CB-FCS scheme is growing, and more and more countries sign up as members. Since the base of the testing is according to CB scheme with added national deviations, manufacturers are always guaranteed an ordinary CB certificate, provided the product comply with the standards. Therefore, with the CB-FCS you are always on the safe side when you are selling to countries that are CB members.
